Chinese vice foreign minister Fu Ying called on Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai at the latter's office (PMO) in Singhadurbar on Monday.
Nepal-China relationship, bilataral trade, Chinese investment, border security including others issues of mutual interest featured prominently during the meeting, it is learnt.
Emerging from the meeting, Chinese vice foreign minister Fu expressed China's willingness to invest in various sectors of Nepal to contribute to Nepal's economic development.
"I am amazed at the changes and progress Nepal has achieved in the past few years. It is a very lively country now. I had a very fruitful discussion with my Nepali counterpart, the secretary of foreign ministry, and also the Prime Minister," she said, adding that the main purpose of her visit to Nepal was to implement bilateral agreements, especially those signed during Chinese premier Wen´s Nepal visit.
Fu said that Nepal and China are very much committed to promoting the cooperation and friendship between the two countries, and also expand the cooperation in all fields including trade, investment, economic exchanges, people-to-people exchanges and student exchanges.
"There is a lot we can do together. I am very pleased with this visit and when I go back I will relay the messages I got from here and discuss with different Chinese agencies to explore ways and means to expand our relationship with Nepal," she said.
On Sunday, Minister Fu, accompanied by Chiense Ambassador to Nepal Yang Houlan and other Chinese delegation, took a guided tour of Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, including the Mayadevi Temple and the Chinese Buddhist Monastery. She said that China is willing to help Nepal in developing Lumbini.
Chinese vice foreign minister Fu Ying had arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday for a four-day Nepal visit.
Earlier, Fu had during her meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha hailed Nepal’s stand on “One-China policy” and said that China wants to further consolidate its ties with Nepal by increasing its aid to the new Himalayan republic in the days to come. Nepalnews.com
