KASKI, SEP 19 -
Locals of Pokhara have brought the Regional Administration Office (RAO) to a grinding halt as part of their indefinite strike to pressurise the government to take a swift decision on the construction of proposed Regional International Airport.
The agitators staged a sit-in outside the office from 9 in the morning by chanting slogans against the government. The RAO wore a deserted look as the protestors blocked the staffers from entering the office. Regional Administrator Narayan Gopal Malego entered the office before 9 in the morning prior to the demonstration. Police Inspector Sher Bahadur Chand had escorted Malego to the office.
Likewise, most of the government offices in the district have also been shut down due to the protest called by the airport construction stakeholders’ committee.
